About
The writer and the siteI am Elin Sandoval. I write essays about reading and attention, mostly in the early morning, from a flat in Fremantle with a view of somebody else's roof. I have been keeping some version of this site since 2019 and have rebuilt it four times, which is three more than the writing required.
The longer pieces are in essays. The short ones — notes, half-thoughts, things I wanted to write down before I lost them — are in bits. What I am doing at the moment is on now. Everything, in order, is in the archive.
There is no newsletter and there will not be one. If you want to follow along, the feed carries both essays and notes.

A note on this site
Folio is a demonstration build. Elin Sandoval does not exist, and every essay and note here was written as sample content — it is first-person prose that reads as though someone means it, which is exactly why it is worth saying plainly.
